Oh yes Frenchmen is evolving again! New Clubs Like Bamboula and The New Dat Dogs is throwing an interesteing Twist on The Street.
The Verdict is still out on whether Thats Good or Bad.Still More Work is always a Good Thing.I have been taking alot of Pictures Lately
of the Street. It will be Good for Posterity to see things before and After.Anyways Enjoy!
Looks Like 2 New Joints will be opening On Frenchmen. You Got Dat Dogs working on Building a Hot Dog Restaurant on The Corner next to Apple Barrel. And What Used to be the Old Labourde printing Co. Building gonna be turning into a Fine Dining establishment. It was Supposed to open as Bamboola’s Last Year But was shot Down by the Zoning Commission. If it has Music That remains to be seen.Hopefully they will have entertainment and put another 20-30 Musicians to work.
Yes The simple Days of just Locals is waining Fast!I have seen this growth coming since the early Years and while it is a Sad Thing to watch disappear Its also Interesting to see what it’s transforming into.In some ways I hate it.But In others just to think 12 years ago it was almost a Non Factor. Now it is the Undisputed Heavy Weight of Music In New Orleans even Crushing Bourbon Street for Live Music. While the Locals are fleeing to St.Claude and the Bywater area for entertainment The Tourist Know about Frenchmen and are flocking In.In the Long run better Pay Has come for the Service Industry on Frenchmen and as a working Musician here “Money Talks and Bull $hit Walks”
Andy was kind Enough to Let me Interview him Then he Interviewed me afterwards.Andy is doing alot of Good work with the Children of New Orleans Bringing Music to the Schools in The Region.A Positive Message of Music to the Kids and Helping to keep the Traditions of Music alive and well in the Community.
